CDC H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) and you
What is swine flu?
Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. Swine flu viruses have been reported to spread from person-to-person, but in the past, this transmission was limited and not sustained beyond three people.
Are there human infections with swine flu in the U.S.?
In late March and early April 2009, cases of human infection with swine influenza A (H1N1) viruses were first reported in Southern California and near Guadalupe County, Texas. Other U.S. states have reported cases of swine flu infection in humans and cases have been reported internationally as well. An updated case count of confirmed swine flu infections in the United States is kept at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/investigation.htm CDC and local and state health agencies are working together to investigate this situation.
Is this swine flu virus contagious?
CDC has determined that this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human. However, at this time, it is not known how easily the virus spreads between people.

SWINE FLU COMES TO AMERICA
WASHINGTON, DC – The Swine Flu epidemic has reached the United States. This new mutated strand of influenza starts as a normal flu, then turns people into pigs.
The world is in the grip of fear over an outbreak of a new Swine Flu. A previous strain affected pigs by making them grow enormous and vicious. This flu has since mutated, mixing with human and avian viruses, to create a new and more dangerous Swine Flu. This flu begins with typical symptoms, such as sneezing fever and lethargy, but soon makes humans grow larger and more angry. Then, by the first full moon, sufferers turn into mutated pigs!

Swine flu virus spread latest update May 1, 2009: 331 people in 11 countries infected, 10 deaths
The swine flu virus alert level is still pegged at phase 5 on a 6-point scale. Though the World Health Organization (WHO) says that a pandemic is imminent (phase 6), the flu virus that has spread globally has not reached the highest health crisis alert level. The WHO also has not scheduled any meetings of its emergency committee as of yet.
The WHO’s latest update on the virus infection is relayed through the statement: “The new flu strain, which it calls Influenza A (H1N1), had been confirmed to have infected 331 people in 11 countries, including 10 deaths.”
The latest human-to-human infection occurred in Spain when one person was in contact with a traveler from Mexico. The WHO has declared, however, that there is no proof of ‘sustained, community-based human-to-human transmission in Europe.’

OCONOMOWOC – The Oconomowoc Area School District has closed Oconomowoc High School as well as Silver Lake and Nature Hill Intermediate Schools for seven days after three students contracted “probable, presumptive” cases of swine flu.
“This morning as we were preparing to brief the media on this case, we received word of two more probable cases,” said Waukesha County Health and Human Services Director Peter Schuler.
“Because intermediate school students have co-mingled with high school students, we have been directed to also close Nature Hill and Silver Lake immediately as a precaution,” the District said in an email to parents.

Similar to a scare originally found in Cambodia back in 2005, victims of a new strain of the swine flu virus H1N1 have been reported in London.
After death, this virus is able to restart the heart of it’s victim for up to two hours after the initial demise of the person where the individual behaves in extremely violent ways from what is believe to be a combination of brain damage and a chemical released into blood during “resurrection.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the alert to phase six, its highest level, and advised governments to activate pandemic contingency plans.
