52 Weeks 2 Find Him: Woman Launches Website to Find Prospective Husband

Neenah Pickett is on a mission to find love, and it’s the kind that has a countdown and can be monitored by any curious voyeur.

No, she’s not the newest bachelorette to feed America’s reality TV addiction. The New Jersey media consultant is the brains and heart behind “52 weeks 2 find him!” a Web site dedicated to the search for her husband.

“This whole process has been me really realizing I need to find new ways to be proactive,” said Pickett, 43, who might typically get roped into long hours at work or the embrace of a comfortable couch. “I’m past the stage of believing it’ll just happen.”

So she’s putting it all out there on her site. She’s blogging. She’s asking friends and strangers to weigh in with advice. She’s pushing herself to do things and act in ways she never has before.

There’s a singles desperation continuum which ranges from calling too soon after a first date to holding up an object of affection at gunpoint to obtain a vow of commitment. Neenah Pickett, a 42-year-old Jersey woman, may have placed herself a bit closer to the latter yesterday when she launched 52weeks2findHIM.com, a website dedicated to finding Pickett a soul mate in 52 weeks or less.

52weeks2findHIM includes soporific videos of Pickett discussing what she’s looking for in a man (38-40 years old and taller than 5’2’’) and saying inane and generic things like, “Chemistry’s important to me, and what I love about chemistry is you can’t manufacture it. You either click or you don’t click.”

Pickett also includes a section called “Challenging Steps,” where she posts her targeted dating exercises such as, “Spend 7 days practicing your smile on men” and going to a singles bar with a tape recorder, which would be an effective strategy if her goal were to creep men out until their genitalia inverts in terror.

Pickett, who specifies that her best feature is her lips, writes on 52weeks2findHIM:

I’m hoping it takes 52 weeks or less to find him. So who is this very fortunate “him”? Maybe it’s you or someone you know! Remember the book for singles that suggested you put yourself out there and tell everyone you know that you are interested in finding someone, and to see if they knew someone they could set you up with? Well, here I go! Like Hillary says, sometimes it takes a village to get a girl married. Okay. So that’s not exactly what she said, but you get the similarities.

I figure, if everyone who is reading this page knows of one person, just one person, that they think would be right for me and wanted to set me up, then I’m bound to find him. Right?

Well, actually, no. But good try. What I’d really like to know though is what happens to the website at week 53?
